Alright, going to get some wheels for the Rally Capri project tomorrow night.
I wanted another set of turbines (because cool as hell) but I found a set of 10-hole Mustang wheels for 100 bucks. Really hard to say no to a good set of wheels for 100 bucks. Maybe I can find some nicks and try and get him to 80 but I doubt it, he just had them sandblasted a couple years ago.

TIL your car is a 4 lugger

yup.
I plan to upgrade to an 8.8 rear end and 5 lug in the next year or so. I’m hoping to grab and 8.8 full axle all the way out through the rear disc’s and upgrade to 5 lug, rear disc instead of drum, and a better rear drive.
You can see the 4 lug turbine wheels in all the old pics.
ALSO, this is why I’m only paying 100 bucks for a full set of wheels. I’m not buying nice wheels to have to ditch them in a year or so for a 5 lug upgrade.

My uncle had 10-holes on his Capri before he did a 5 lug swap. His center caps had little cougar emblems.

Wait wait wait, it has a 7.5? Did not know this.

Those were actually stock for the Capri as well! The Mercury “Sign of the Cat” it appeared on the front of the Black Magic fenders as well.

It’s what came in 82. 8.8 wasn’t even available as an option yet.
I’m getting cheap wheels so that I can upgrade to 5 lug and an 8.8 in the future. I don’t want to invest in a real nice set to only turn around in a year or so and swap on an 8.8/5 lug set up and have useless wheels.

Huh TIL. Do you know what gear ratio is in the 7.5 right now? Cause I have one with a 3.45 that you can have for freeeeee.
I feel, I don’t mind the ten holes actually, my dad has 2 sets of them for his fox right now. What wheels are you looking at for the future?

3.08:1 axle ratio, Traction-Lok differential is what’s in the car.
No idea what I want for the future, it’s kind of a band aid until I upgrade to the 8.8 and 5 lug haven’t thought that far ahead, probably end up with Mustang wheels. If I could roll a whole rear end out from under a mustang wheels and axle/dif I would be happy. I’m not worried at all about appearances on this car - 100% about function over form.
BTW I bought em last night.

I don’t think that would be too much of a reach to find a wrecked part out and just take the whole axle, wheels and all.
Well you do have a plethora of choices, there’s god knows how many different mustang wheels.

and once I get to a 5 lug, any ford 5 lug wheel should fit. Tons of options at that point.
And yeah a wrecked part out would be perfect. Even better one that just had a motor go or something because I’ll need the front axles as well hahahaha

I’m not quite sure what the size tolerances are for a Capri rear fender, but if you switch to a 94-95 8.8, the axle is wider .75 on each side. And I think its a full inch per side on a 96-04 axle. Probably easiest to a get a Fox 8.8 so you don’t have to deal with all kinds of wacky offsets.
That being said if you can find somebody parting out a SN95 you’d be golden lol.

The Capri has nice rear hips that can handle the expansion lol. These are I think around a 10.5" wide tire on the back and there’s almost an inch of over hang still! I’m looking at slightly skinnier tires for RallyX anyhow so it’s not the end of the world.
I’m going to find what’s available and in the best shape that has 8.8, 5 lug and rear discs that I can steal. If it’s from an 86 or a 95 I don’t necessarily care haha.

If you are going to downsize tire wise, try to go for a square set up. I’m not sure how relevant it really is to rally compared to say autocross, but it helps cut down on the understeer the fox chassis has. That’s what I run on my Cobra currently, 275's all around, seems like it helps.
Kind of the whole beggars can’t be choosers type deal haha.

Nice find! Dunno how I missed this the other day when it was published (eh, it probably got buried under a bunch of shitposts or something).
BTW, now that I got my Cobra brakes 100% done I wanted to let you know that my old front brakes came off nicely without any trouble, and they’re yours if you want ’em. The rotors will need to be resurfaced a little, but they still have plenty of material to cut before they get out of spec. Everything else checks out, even the bleeder screws still work great.
I left some pics in my upgrade post but I can take some more if you’re interested.

Oh yeah I plan on all 4 matching size tires for Rally. No reason for offset with this racing and it’ll mean I can rotate and get more use out of the tires.

Yes, had to be under a shitpost somewhere lol
At 100 bucks for 4 solid wheels, I don’t care what they look like. I would’ve preferred another set of Turbines like what’s on it now, but I couldn’t find a set under 275.
Now I just need tires and to look through some of the suspension components and off to rally!
I’ll take any parts anyone wants to give me! They’ll have to sit until I get around to upgrading to 5 lug, but it’s one less thing to find for the conversion! I’m kind of hoping I can get the conversion done next summer and sell off all the 4 lug stuff to recoup some cash.
I’m actually planning on selling the center caps that came with these wheels to get some cash back. A lot of people will pay over 20 bucks for 1 cap. Though at the same time if I upgrade to 5 lug next summer it may help me sell the 10 holes if I have the caps....interesting dilemma. I certainly don’t need the center caps for off road usage only haha.

Yeah, those caps can be hard to come by. When I bought my Thunderbird, I immediately put its wheel caps in a box so I wouldn’t lose them to a pothole or something. I just drove around with capped lug nuts on the fanblades. Looked kinda cool that way anyway, IMO.
Shoot me an e-mail at urambotauro @ inbox.com and we’ll meet up sometime between now and summer.

Yeah I’ve thought about it and I think I’m going to hang onto them because it’ll be a whole lot easier to sell these 4 lug wheels if I have the caps with them in the future.
